Experienced Care

Reassurance for parents. Progress for kids.

Raising a child with complex emotional or developmental needs takes extraordinary love, and extraordinary support. At Lambton Counselling Services, we work with children and youth from early childhood through adolescence, with experience supporting:

  • Children experiencing anxiety, behavioural challenges, and emotional dysregulation.
  • Children and youth with developmental, sensory, and communication differences.
  • Children affected by trauma, family change, or adverse experiences.
  • Youth navigating identity, social challenges, and school pressures.

We work with the child directly, and we keep parents and caregivers closely involved, because real progress happens in both the session room and the home.

Our Approach

Our approach, in parent-friendly terms

Play Therapy

Children don’t always have words for what they’re experiencing. Play therapy uses structured and unstructured play to give children a language for their inner world. Through play, they can process difficult emotions, build coping skills, and explore experiences in a safe, contained way. Several of our practitioners are trained in play therapy approaches.

Trauma-Informed Care

For children who have experienced adverse events, we use trauma-informed, attachment-focused approaches that prioritize safety, predictability, and connection above all else. We never push a child faster than they’re ready to go.

Sensory & Regulation Support

Our practitioners are experienced in supporting children and youth with differing sensory and communication needs. We focus on building resilience, social navigation skills, and self-regulation, and we adapt our approach to each child’s sensory, communication, and learning profile.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for Youth

CBT helps children understand the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, and learn practical tools to shift patterns that aren’t serving them. We use age-appropriate versions that feel accessible and even engaging.

We meet each child where they are, and we never push faster than they’re ready to go.
